Brakes and Clutches in
Manual transmission cars and clutches
Manual transmission vehicles have clutches.
Gears can be changed when the clutch pedal, located leftmost beside the brake pedal, has been pressed.
A linking hydraulic connection that runs from the pedal to the clutch mechanism which parts the clutch plate facings when the driver presses the clutch, which enables gears to be changed using the stick shift.
If clutch pedals are released before gears are fully engaged, grinding can occur which can damage the clutch.
Making sure the clutch is released smoothly following a gear change is required to ensure a comfortable journey.
Should you experience clutch problems, contact a garage.
Braking system components
Systems for brakes are made up of many parts, however it is difficult to see most of them because of alloys and hub caps covering the wheel. Most sports cars, such as Porsches, have coloured callipers however so they stand out from the disc and wheel.
You find drum brakes on back wheels of cars and are controlled by the hand brake, which triggers activation of the brake shoes which then secures the vehicle when stopped on an incline or parked. Callipers and discs are found on the front wheels of a car, and the foot pedal activates them when the driver presses it.
The disc is rubbed against by the pistons in the calliper when the air or hydraulic brake fluid is compressed in your Seat brake hoses or Peugeot brake pipes. Consult a professional mechanic to examine or replace your vehicle's brake parts.
What if the clutch on my Fiat fails?
If a clutch fails, your car will not be able to be driven as gear changes won't be possible because you can't deselect the current gear or move out of neutral. As a result, you might need an emergency mechanic recovery service so your Volkswagen can be towed to a garage where a clutch replacement or repair can be carried out. As a result of separation of transmission and the engine being needed for a clutch replacement to be carried out, a lot of labour will be involved, making it a costly repair to undertake.
As a result, when you believe you may have clutch problems in your car, it is always worthwhile to ensure the clutch is causing the vehicle problem before a replacement clutch is fitted.
