A massive amount of motorists in Britain, totalling nearly four million don’t actually know how to open the bonnet of their vehicle. The report has shown that the public are more interested in the way the car looks than the way it works under the bonnet.
Drivers today are not bothered or have very small interest in the maintenance of their vehicle, it has been said 17% of women drivers and 6% of male drivers are totally unaware when looking under the bonnet. This study was carried out by the oil company Castrol.
Because drivers are now more interested in the way their car looks, 2.6 million motorists have never even had their vehicle serviced, and within this it has been said that 1 in 8 people actually know how to check their tyres, add water and oil, and even just do a simple bulb change by their self. Due to this, it has caused drivers to drive on a flat tyre and not bothering to do anything when a warning light shows on the dashboard.
Also, statistics show that 1.9 million drivers in Britain have filled their car with the wrong fuel, showing that men are more likely to do this than women drivers.
Drivers would know how much it would cost them to modify their car such as new alloys, exhausts, spoilers, etc, than it would cost them to get a service carried out. A massive 67% of people feel it is more important to them with regard to how their vehicle looks and a small 13% feel they need to keep their vehicle running smoothly.
