Workers at an existing Peugeot garage in Coventry have had reason to be concerned over the last few months amidst rumours that the building could close. However these fears have been dispelled as bosses revealed that a brand new, state of the art structure is to be built, alongside the creation of jobs for all those who wish to remain employed with the company.
The factory currently manufactures car parts for Peugeot and workers had been unsure of what the bosses had in store for them. But a deal has been finalised and they will be moving premises to nearby Allesley.
The current site had needed renovation for a long period of time now, and workers fears were dispelled amidst these recent revelations. This is unlike the Ryton plant in Coventry that was closed in December 2006.
The car manufacture industry has been an integral part of Coventry for over 60 years, and workers had feared that this year might have been the end of their 60 year reign in the city.
Plans are set to go underway for the creation of a state of the art purpose built structure, based in Goodman’s Lyon’s Park in Browns Lane.
The PSA Peugeot group have taken this decision to help prove that they have every intention to keep the manufacturing of parts and logistics in the city of Coventry. And the new look will help to aid the excellent service that they provide to their customers.
They are aiming for a fast turnaround and hope that the building will begin in January next year with an expected completion date of October 2012 allowing the workers to relocate during this time.
