RAC successfully keeping more vehicles on the road with roadside car repairs

broken down car Roadside breakdowns are an unwelcome element to any journey, but many people are affected by car problems when on the road every day. There are a number of roadside assistance companies that are known to the general public and who are able to aid in recovery of vehicles and roadside repairs, one of the most well known being RAC.

RAC has announced they have been able to create an improved service to members when vehicle breakdowns occur by developing their unique parts ordering service. The RAC were the first UK breakdown service to implement an ordering service, which is called the EPS system, or Electronic Parts Sales. They joined forces with Euro Car Parts who are the company that supplies any parts that are needed.

The patrols on the road are able to order parts automatically whilst staying mobile, placing orders for parts needed before 5pm, with a next day delivery service from Euro Car Parts ensuring that the vehicle part stocks stay full (subject to availability) and more customers can be dealt with at the roadside, rather than being affected by a lack of available parts preventing a vehicle repair being completed.

Customers should now get more chance of a first time resolution when calling on their roadside assistance cover provider, which should save them time and money, whilst also being much more convenient for them. Research has shown that satisfaction levels for RAC customers is at a record high over the past five years due to the improved service, and membership renewals have also grown which this service is thought to be responsible for, at least in part.

The RAC’s head of technical support has said that the service has been crucial to members as they now avoid garage costs and get their car repaired in a much quicker timescale. He went on to say that joining with Euro Car Parts has been influential as parts can be replenished much faster than before, and can even arrive whist the recovery vehicle is at the roadside in some cases.
