Water leaks causing vehicle accidents

crashed vehicleA water leak in Hartfield has been described as ‘lethal’ as an investigation is carried out as the result of a serious car accident.

The accident occurred after a driver slid on black ice causing a collision into trees within the area of Gallipot Hill. The motorist fortunately came out of the accident unharmed without injury.

The incident happened on the morning of March 7th, and as a result workers from South East Water were sent to attempt to repair the water leak which has repeatedly caused trouble overprevious months.

The landlady of the  Gallipot Inn, which is located near to where the accident happened;  stated how the driver had had a lucky escape from the collision with the black ice. She suggested that when the vehicle drove around the corner where the water was frozen, it lost all control after hitting the ice.  A motorist of another vehicle consequently skidded on the dangerous sheet of ice which resulted in another collision with the first vehicle.

It has been said by the locals that the water problem has been ongoing for about 18 months, and has lead to the stop tap leaking water across the road.

East Sussex County Council sent out gritters to remove the dangerous ice after the accident and also set up temporary traffic signals whilst workers from South East Water set to work in an attempt to repair the problem of the leak.
A resident of Newton Hill advised how frustrated he was with the problem, and that the e leak should have been sorted and repaired months ago, as residents have been complaining about the problem for a while.
