A road full of potholes in Thornhill have been responsible for damage to a car, as the vehicle now has no wheels and the owner is not able to pay the cost to repair the damage. The driver of the vehicle, Mr Haman, described how angry and frustrated he is after been given the cost to repair his car, which is a huge amount of £1044.
Mr Haman advised that his claim for compensation was due to faulty roads, and that the damage caused to his vehicle hasn’t even been considered by the council’s insurance broker, Gallagher Bassett. He feels so angry and says he feels he has no chance at all of receiving any compensation.
Mr Haman sent his claim to the council towards the end of February and hasn’t had any response at all; he says how he is still paying for his insurance and road tax but the car is stuck in his garage, therefore losing more money.
A week after Mr Haman’s accident another incident happened regarding the same pothole, this time causing the car to flip and land on its roof, resulting in such serious damage that the vehicle was condemned, whereby Mr Haman says he felt fortunate compared to this accident.
He reported his incident the day after his vehicle was damaged but nothing was done about it and left dangerous for other motorists. In respond to his case, the council have reported that the level of complaints regarding local roads had risen due to the severe weather conditions, so therefore there was a delay in performing necessary maintenance.
