Customers have been caused huge headaches due to the closure of second hand car business Karrs motor traders in avenue road Torbay, which is located in the Torquay area.
Ex company manager, Mark Kay has assured clients that all outstanding queries will be dealt with. A customer of St Mary Church Road, Torquay, recently purchased a car from Karrs and upon returning it for a repair was shocked when arriving on the forecourt to discover there were no cars there and the company had ceased trading.
The car, a £3,995 used Renault scenic, for which she part exchanged her old car and paid an additional £3,100 to Karrs, was not on the site. Her partner Chris acted immediately and was able to locate the car at another garage on the Torquay trading estate after an email reply from Karrs.
Chris has since collected the car which has been repaired with no additional cost to him. He stated that “It seems we have been the victims of incredibly shoddy customer service.”
In another incident Lisa Brinicombe of Grosvenor road, Shipay, Torquay, says that Karrs have a £4,955 Renault Espace which she returned for repairs over three months ago.
Although Lisa was provided with a courtesy car she has still been unable to retrieve her property. The courtesy car that she was provided with was faulty due to a leak in the gearbox and she was told that she would be provided with another car soon until hers was fixed.
She did manage to track down the business at the new site but was informed that Karrs were no longer trading. The old site is now padlocked shut with barriers surrounding it. Karrs had been trading on the site for seven years.
