In the quiet area of Wooton Green a teenager, escaped serious injury when his vehicle lost control and was thrown upside down, ending up on its roof in the driveway of a couple who lived on Upper Shelton Rd. The car was lucky not to end up in their living room, where the husband was watching TV just after finishing a night shift. When he heard the crash outside at 1am he went upstairs and woke his wife and they both went outside to find little sign of movement.
The couple called the police and before they arrived the driver emerged from the car with only minor injuries. The police then turned up shortly afterwards.
The Peugeot 306 was written off and had crashed into the home owners car that was on the driveway. The police had advised the owners that there was a possibility that had their car not been parked in the driveway, the teenager’s vehicle would have crashed straight into the house, putting the man in the living room at great risk and causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Other residents who live on the road advised that the problem is due to young drivers using the road as a race track, and putting the lives of themselves and local residents in great danger in the process.
They say that something needs to be done to ensure that these drivers are forced to slow down and return the area to being a nice, quiet and most importantly safe place to live and drive.
The police are currently said to be investigating the incident.
