Hamilton Back Behind The Wheel Of His 2008 Mercedes McLaren At Goodwood

On Sunday the Goodwood festival of speed 2011 took place. In attendance were some high profile figures from the motoring world including past formula 1 champions John Surtees, the legend Nigel Mansell and Damon Hill.

The day’s guest of honour was Lewis Hamilton who was taking a bit of time out just one week before the British grand prix at Silverstone, where he will be trying to shorten the gap in the championship from the current leader Sebastian Vettel.

At the event Hamilton got to sign autographs for his fans and he also wowed them by putting his 2008 championship car through its paces by performing inch-perfect doughnuts.

Hamilton said that it was nice to get back in the car that he won the championship with, although since then McLaren have not been as productive around the race track, unlike Red Bull who have been in tantalising form with Vettel at the wheel.

There has been talk that by next season Hamilton could be joining the Milton Keynes based team.

Hamliton who turned 26 earlier in the year said that it was always nice to let off some steam from the f1 circuit and he was joined by younger brother Nicholas, who is making his début as a race car driver in this year’s Renault Clio cup.

Hamliton was also spotted with American Ken Block of the monster world rally team; they were spotted sharing a joke by Kens Ford Fiesta RS WRC car. Block said “I think Lewis is a bit jealous of the fun I get to have in this car!”
