Don’t Get Ripped Off this Summer

Car hire is an option many of us choose whilst on holiday. Providing easy solutions to getting around and exploring with ease, holiday car hire can be a mine field if you get it wrong. Here are a few tips so you don’t get ripped off when hiring on your hols…

Buy basic

Don’t get swept away with the extras, car firms will always offer add ons but go for the basic package to save money.

Bring your own accessories

Hiring a sat nav or car seats will come at extra cost so be prepared and take your own car accessories where possible.

Buy excess insurance

Although car hire usually includes insurance for any crash or write off, it helps to buy excess insurance as small scratches and minor damage are not covered and could add up to leave you with a hefty bill.

Check the fuel policy

Many firms are now insisting that you leave with a tank of fuel and come back on empty but what if you don’t need a full tank? Check your firm’s fuel policy, which includes this fuel-to-empty clause as well as mileage limits and surcharges.

Be Cautious

If you don’t cause any damage to the vehicle, photograph the car and keep all paperwork involved in the transaction. Many motorists have been caught out long after the rental has ended.
