Renault Report Reduced Figures For New Car Sales In Europe

renaultLast Monday, the French car manufacturer Renault released a report that showed for the first half of the year sales, the number of vehicles sold had dropped by 7.4 percent in Europe.

Although sales dropped in Europe, international sales rose 1.9 percent to 1.37 million for the first half of the year for the popular car manufacturer, while there was a huge drop in sales of 9.9 percent in France. The Company forecast selling a record 2.6 million vehicles in 2011, as its international sales figures had risen massively.

International sales have accounted for 40 percent of turnover for the first half of the year, growing by a fifth to 542,000 vehicles. Executive Vice President of Renault, Jerome Stoll, released a statement on Monday stating that the increase in sales was due to the growing markets in countries like Brazil, Russia and the company has also had a massive increase of sales in Iran.

Renault is also in the process of releasing five new models in India because of the success of the economical Fluence model released earlier on in the year. Stroll also said that the group aims to “prioritise big emerging countries with prospect for growth”.

Renault also have three new models in the pipeline to be released this year; all electric cars – the Fluence, Kangoo and Twizy.

Sales of Renaults and Dacia’s suffered in France massively due to the government ending the bonus scheme for trading in old vehicles and also stock levels which struggled to keep up with the high demand.

“We lacked stocks, we lacked cars. We did not lack customers.” said Stroll.
