Female motorists have just days to renew their car insurance before premiums almost double in some cases. Women could face up to a £3,000 hike thanks to EU gender ruling.
It was found that around a third of parents help with their children’s car insurance so it comes as no surprise that the EU gender ruling is troubling cash-strapped parents too. 6 out of 10 parents are worried about the rising premiums that will follow.
A third of female motorists are unaware of the EU gender ruling coming in power in the next month which will see car insurance premiums for women rise dramatically.
Good news for car drivers, according to the AA, car insurance premiums have fell in the third quarter of this year. But this won’t last long for female drivers as they will soon face increased premiums due to the forthcoming EU ruling.
The new EU ruling means that women will be hit hard by the end of gender discrimination in the car insurance industry. All female drivers under the age of 40 could see a rise of up to £300.
From 21st December an EU ruling will come into place meaning men and women will be equal in terms of car insurance, signalling huge increases for women drivers. A recent report revealed that men pay up to 41% more for their car insurance at the moment.
